The history of Keystone Villa Retirement Communities goes back approximately 30 years. The members of the Vestry of St. Gabriel’s Church in Douglassville, PA decided to explore the idea of a senior retirement community on a hayfield adjacent to the church to provide senior living options to the parish and residents of the surrounding area. During the late 1980s, a donation by a member of the church helped to purchase the land. In 2000, the church established a Campus Master Planning Committee. Church member James Elliott and President of Hollenbach Construction Company, W. James Hollenbach, were asked to assist with the project. Three years later, Hollenbach and Elliott would change roles and become the project’s developers and builders. Construction was completed on the first building in 2005; Villa at Morlatton opened its Independent Living Residence. A new Personal Care Residence with Memory Care Neighborhood opened in the summer of 2009, providing a continuum of care to residents on one campus. In 2011, the name was changed from Villa at Morlatton to Keystone Villa at Douglassville as the company expanded. Keystone Villa at Fleetwood was opened in 2011. Keystone Villa at Ephrata was built shortly after in 2014.
